The Victorian Government has recently altered the isolation requirements for COVID-19 household close contacts. This can be found in the Sport & Recreation Sector Guidance page on the Coronavirus website.
Quarantine and isolation
- Close contacts will no longer have to quarantine – provided they wear a face mask indoors and avoid sensitive settings. They will also need to undertake at least five negative rapid tests over the seven days that would previously have been the self-quarantine period.
- The requirement to isolate for seven days following a COVID-19 diagnosis remains.
Close Contacts and Basketball
We have liaised with some associations and venue operators to align and confirm their stance on house-hold close contacts and basketball participation.
Basketball Victoria recommends:
- Household contacts are required to wear masks in and around facilities (such as pre and post-game), but once they are exercising (in an exertive manner) as per the Victorian Government face mask rules, they can participate without a mask. This also applies to technical officials and coaches participating in the same manner.
